Fake reviews.

Can you relate?

Perhaps you can relate to this…

The other day we got lovely 1-star review from someone whose never even had a strategy call with us:

Every legitimate and successful service business I know of (from marketing to HVAC to plumbing) deals with this problem…

People who have never done business with you (or even so much as gotten a quote from you!) leaving fake negative reviews on your company.

Can you relate?!…

I was pondering what to do about this review the other day when I realized something:

As positive people who know how we conduct ourselves at Relentless Digital commented on the debacle, I realized that negative reviewers are actually more like highly productive unpaid interns than they are “detractors” of my business.

When you have a positive track record of success, but then someone jumps in with a single negative review amongst many, MANY positive ones…

It actually gets people who know your integrity to stand up for you. It creates more positive attention by virtue of the conflict. So in this way, I suppose I shouldn’t be upset at this 1-star reviewer…

I should be THANKING HIM.

I should be thanking him for taking the time out of his day to promote my business and rally the supportive people around me.

Fake 1-star reviews aren’t a mere nuisance - they’re an opportunity.

Next time you get one, instead of complaining about it, try emailing your customer list to let them know that fake non-customers are trying to destroy your good business’s reputation. Watch at they flock to your aid.

And if you need help with your Google Business Profile and review management…
