Contractors: Are You A Victim Of This New “Google Map Scam?”

find out why your Google Map Pin might be at risk...

There’s one thing that savvy HVAC, plumbing & electrical contractors should keep their eye on at all times…

It’s your Google Map Pin location.

Because all it takes is a jealous competitor of yours to “suggest an edit” & move your company's location to Timbuktu.

Contractors everywhere are calling it the new “Google Maps Scam” & it’s destroying contractors all over the country.

Here’s the scoop: sneaky competitors will mess with your Google Maps ranking.

They use the "Suggest an edit" trick to literally move your location pin.

Suddenly, Google thinks you've packed up and moved across town.

And here’s the worst part…

You won't even get a heads-up from Google.

If your calls have dropped, this scam could be the stealthy culprit.

Don’t rush to slide that pin back yourself, though. That could slam you with a profile suspension (it’s crazy…I know).

And believe me, dealing with Google’s appeal process is as fun as a root canal.

So here's a quick DIY check-and-fix:

1. Pop into your Google Business Profile.

2. Hit “Edit Profile” then “Location.”

3. Peek at the map. Is the pin playing nice or is your business suddenly in Siberia?

If your pin’s on a safari here’s what to do:

1. Log into Google with a “clean” email, one that's not linked to any Business Profiles.

2. Hunt down your business on Google Maps.

3. Click “Suggest an edit” and then “Edit map location.”

4. Drag that adventurous pin back home and hit “Save.”

Check monthly! (All the savvy contractors do.. or at least, they should).

Stay ahead of any map mischief, and keep your business right where it should be: In front of local customers who are searching for you.
